IOM and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reinforce cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding
12 February 2018
IOM Ukraine Chief of Mission, Dr. Thomas Lothar Weiss, and Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Ms. Natalia Fedorovych, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Organization of Migration and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine (MoSP).
The document sets the framework for the expansion of cooperation between the MoSP and IOM in the broad range of work, such as countering human trafficking, assisting internally displaced persons, facilitating safe and regular labour migration, supporting reintegration of Ukrainians returning from abroad, assisting national minorities, promoting cultural diversity, and the integration of migrants.
Ms. Natalia Fedorovych thanked IOM for its longstanding cooperation with the Ministry. “We highly appreciate IOM’s support in highlighting the issue of Ukrainian internally displaced persons in the global arena,” she noted among other things. “The International Organization for Migration and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine share the same portfolio, helping the most vulnerable populations, such as IDPs and victims of trafficking,” said Dr. Thomas Lothar Weiss. “We are very pleased and honoured with the great cooperation we have received from the Ministry, and the MoSP team can further count on IOM’s expertise and technical assistance,” he added.
